Safety first

Power down and unplug a device before inspecting ports or vents. Stop if you see liquid damage, smell burning, hear arcing, or notice a swollen battery.

Confirm the television input and cable

Select the exact HDMI input used by the console, then reseat the cable at both ends. If you have a known-good HDMI cable, test it. You can also try a different HDMI input on the same television. Change one thing at a time so you know which step made a difference.

Look at the connector without forcing it

With the console powered off and unplugged, use good light to look at the HDMI port. A cable that feels unusually loose, a port pushed inward, or visible bent metal can point to physical damage. Do not wiggle or force the cable; that can worsen damaged pads or traces on the circuit board.

Pay attention to lights, sound, and shutdown behavior

Note whether the console powers on normally, produces fan noise, plays menu sounds, or shuts down. Those details help distinguish a video-output fault from a broader power, storage, or startup problem.

When to request an assessment

If the same cable and display work with another device but the console still has no picture, the HDMI connector or video circuitry may need inspection. Include the console model, what the power light does, and whether the problem followed a fall or cable impact in your repair request.
